Know that if you read any further you are going to see spoilers to the book and to the movie Lightning Thief. That being said — read on at your own risk. So — for starters I have to say — what the…? I was shocked at how different the book was from the movie. I have seen differences before between books and movies but nothing like this before. After seeing the movie and then continuing on with the book I was amazed what they left out of the movie, or blatantly changed…. In the book Percy ships it to the Olympians.

The movie The Lightning Thief, has excellent special effects Hades in the fire and looking like an old rock musician is well done and tells the story of Percy Jackson, half human, half Olympian God. Since the movie was already two hours, one would assume they were cut for time. But there were also pieces that were left out that are needed if the next book in the series is turned into a movie.

Guess who finally got around to reading the first Percy Jackson book? This lady over here. I figured I might as well read what the hype was about with this series, considering the second movie is coming out. I quite enjoyed the first movie as well, and the second looks better, so I figured: hey, why not read the book? Second: I understand why book lovers despised the movie so much. The differences are phenomenal.
